This is the most useful thing you can do after a storm and the thing most people skip. An inspection tells you whether there is claimable damage before you open a claim — which matters, because a claim goes on your record whether or not it pays.
It is genuinely free and genuinely without obligation. If there is nothing up there worth claiming, we will tell you that, and you will have a dated report proving the roof was sound — which is worth having next time an adjuster wants to call something pre-existing.

What the work includes
- Every slope walked. Including the awkward back slopes and dormers. Damage that is hard to reach is damage that gets missed.
- Test squares marked and counted. The same measured method your adjuster will use, so our number and theirs are comparable.
- Soft-metal collateral recorded. Gutters, vents, flashing, AC fins, fence caps. The evidence that cannot be attributed to age.
- Flashing, penetrations and valleys. Pipe boots, vent hoods, chimney and wall flashing, valley metal. Most leaks start at a penetration, not in the field.
- Attic check where accessible. Decking condition from below, insulation staining, water tracks along rafters, and whether the ventilation is actually working.
- Written report, same or next day. Dated photographs slope by slope, findings, and a recommendation. One PDF, formatted to forward to an insurer unedited.

What it costs and how long it takes

Most inspections take forty-five minutes to an hour and a half depending on the size and pitch of the roof. You do not need to be home, though it helps if we can see the attic. In hail season we hold capacity for storm calls and aim to be out within twenty-four hours.
We will not ask you to sign anything at the inspection. Any company that arrives with a contract and wants it signed before the report exists is selling, not inspecting.

Is it really free?
Yes. The inspection and the written report cost nothing, and there is no obligation to use us for the repair. We are not going to pretend otherwise: we do it because a documented roof frequently becomes a job. If it does not, you still keep the report.
Will walking on my roof cause damage?
On a sound roof, no. On a brittle, heavily aged roof, walking it can dislodge granules, so we adjust technique and stay off areas that will not take weight. If a roof is too far gone to walk safely we inspect from a ladder and with a drone.
Should I inspect before I call my insurer?
In almost every case yes, so you know whether there is a claim worth making. The exception is active water entry — then call your insurer straight away, because your policy requires you to prevent further damage: the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s claim guidance sets out what an insurer expects in the first hours.
How often should a roof be inspected in Edmonton?
