Editorial policy

Where the numbers on this site come from, what we will not publish, and how to tell us we got something wrong.

The short version

Everything on this site about claims, coverage, permits and prices is written to be checked. Each number is either linked to the body that published it or labelled as a market range rather than a quote. Where a thing depends on your own policy or your own municipality, the page says so and points you at the document or the office that decides it, instead of answering for them.

How a page gets written

  1. The question comes first. Pages are written around what Edmonton homeowners actually ask after a storm, not around a keyword.
  2. Every figure is traced to a primary source — the insurer’s association, the provincial government, the municipality, the weather service or the manufacturer — and the link goes in the paragraph that uses the figure, not in a bibliography at the bottom.
  3. Anything that varies is framed as varying. Coverage wording, deductibles, permit rules and prices differ by policy, municipality and roof; pages say which of those decides the answer.
  4. The page is dated. The “Updated” line at the foot of every page is generated from a hash of that page’s own content, so it moves when the text moves and stays put when nothing changed. A rebuild does not refresh it.

What is not on this site, and why

  • No reviews or star ratings. There are none to publish yet, and inventing them — or marking up ratings that no one left — is both dishonest and a search engine penalty waiting to happen. The reviews page explains instead how to check any Edmonton roofer on independent platforms.
  • No project photographs that are not ours. The gallery stays empty rather than filling up with stock roofs shot in another country.
  • No registry numbers, certifications or completed-project counts until the documents behind them exist and can be looked up by the reader. Pages tell you which numbers to demand from any contractor and where to verify them; that instruction applies to whoever answers this phone as much as to anyone else knocking on doors after a storm.
  • No invented authors. Pages are published by the company rather than under a byline, because a fabricated expert biography is worse than none.
  • No prices presented as our quote. Every dollar figure is a published market range with its source named on the page. Your number is written down after a roof is looked at.

Corrections

If a figure is out of date, a link is dead, or a municipality has changed its rules, write to quotes@roofedmonton.com with the page address and what is wrong. Corrections to facts are made on the page itself and the update date moves with them; we do not quietly delete a page that turned out to be wrong.

Advertising and independence

Nothing on this site is a paid placement. Nobody pays to be named in a guide, no outbound link is sponsored, and the manufacturers, insurers and municipalities linked here have no involvement in what is written about them. The site exists to win roofing work in Edmonton, and that is the whole of the commercial interest behind it.

Where this policy applies

To every page on the site, including the guides, the insurance section and the area pages. The legal position on using that information is set out in the terms of use; how your own information is handled is in the privacy policy.
